Oftentimes family members will ask, “Why hospice now?” Hospice in itself is a very intimidating word and families oftentimes have mixed emotions when approached about hospice services. Hospice is appropriate for someone who is facing an end of life type situation, um, or they’ve been given a diagnosis either, either the patient themselves do not want to continue with a treatment services, or they often times have gone that route and have exhausted every option and decide that hospice is the way to go. Hospice isn’t about giving up hope. It’s not giving in. It’s more focusing on the quality of life for an individual, treating those symptoms that we may see towards end of life, um, and giving the respect and dignity that an individual deserves.
